A MEDICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM SECOND TO NONE IN THE WEST

Pacific Hospital of Long Beach excels in operating the oldest osteopathic postgraduate training program in California. The program is approved for 26 interns and residents, and we have consistently graduated prominent physicians.

Offered internships are in family medicine, internal medicine and transitional medicine. Residencies offered are family practices, internal medicine and dermatology. Our program offers rotations for 3rd and 4th year medical students that include all of the hospital services provided.

THE HALLMARKS OF THE PACIFIC HOSPITAL OF LONG BEACH PROGRAM

In addition to an outstanding faculty of salaried and volunteer physicians, the most distinguishing element of PHLB’s program is the Pacific Family Health Clinic, located on our main campus.

This fully supervised ambulatory clinic is consistently rated by the House Staff as one of the most valuable learning experiences of their training. Under appropriate supervision residents have sufficient autonomy as the patient’s primary care provider. The continuity of care between the residents and their patients extends to the inpatient setting, preparing our house staff for life after residency. Few other osteopathic programs can offer the range and richness of this experience!

One day a week in the Clinic, residents meet with an OMM attending. The goal is to expand evaluation and treatment to encompass the patient’s medical as well as musculoskeletal diagnosis.

Consider carefully, Pacific Hospital of Long Beach. We take pride in our hospital and believe you will enjoy the warmth of our beautiful city and value forever the professionalism of our program.
