ENSURING A SAFE AND SECURE WORKPLACE

Security would like to welcome you to PHLB. This page was designed to familiarize you with some of the security policies and responsibilities you should be aware of as an employee.

This page also highlights some of the services Corporate Security provides to employees to ensure that we all enjoy a secure work environment.

EMPLOYEE IDENTIFICATION

The employee identification (ID) card issued to you must be visibly displayed at all times while you are on PHLB property unless it is a safety hazard.

If your ID becomes lost, damaged or stolen, report the loss or destruction of your ID card to your supervisor and Human Resources immediately upon discovery.

VISITORS

All visitors and guests should be clearly identified by a hospital visitor sticker whenever possible, while they are visiting PHLB facilities.

PARKING ON COMPANY PROPERTY

Please park your personal vehicle only in designated employee parking areas.
Do not park in the visitors lot unless it is during the weekends or after 3:00p during weekdays.

Park within designated parking stalls and not across striped areas separating parking spaces.

Do not leave your vehicle unattended blocking any traffic lanes.

Adhere to traffic flow patterns designated by traffic arrows and obey all traffic signs and speed limits on company property.

Employees riding motorcycles and bicycles are required to park in designated areas.

LOCKERS

Please pickup a locker request form if you require the use of a locker.

All lockers must be registered with security and must have a PHLB issued lock. Personal locks will be removed.

FACILITY ACCESS

When a PHLB employee resigns, retires, or is terminated, it is incumbent upon the supervisor to retrieve that employee's ID card and immediately notify Human Resources.

COMPANY PROPERTY/PERSONAL PROPERTY SECURITY

Any high value company or personal property should be properly secured at all times.

Contact security for specific methods provided for securing property in your work area.

THEFT

Report any thefts of personal or company property to your Supervisor and to Security via the operator or by dialing 1420 immediately, along with full details surrounding the loss.

SUSPICIOUS PERSONS

Immediately report any suspicious persons seen in or on company property to Security via the operator “0”, and to your supervisor. Be prepared to provide a detailed description of the person observed, their activity, and any other pertinent details.

ESCORT SERVICE

Employees leaving or coming into PHLB facilities after dark, or at any other time can request to be escorted to their vehicle by a Security Officer.

OBSCENE/HARASSING TELEPHONE CALLS

Notify the Director of Security at 2488 immediately if you receive such a call and provide the following information:

  • Exact time the call was received
  • The contents of the call
  • Voice description — any accent or other distinguishing characteristics.
  • Any background noise you may hear.

BOMB THREATS

Bomb threats should be immediately reported to your supervision and to Security via 3111.
You should ask the caller the following questions:

  • When is the bomb going to explode?
  • Where is it right now?
  • What does it look like?
  • What kind of bomb is it?
  • What will cause it to explode?
  • Did you place the bomb?
  • Why?
  • What is your address?
  • What is your name?

PARTNERING

Security emphasizes the partnership between the department and all company employees to ensure a safe and secure work place. We all have a responsibility to ensure that responsible precautions are taken to protect resources under our care and control from theft or damage. By working together as partners we can help ensure that we all have a safe and secure working environment.
